This online course of the Spine Intervention Society (SIS) dealt with the potential and restrictions of regenerative spine therapies, with emphasis on discogenic pain (pain arising from a damaged intervertebral disc).
Regenerative medicine refers to the use of living, functional tissues to promote natural healing of damaged or diseased tissues. In the case of a damaged intervertebral disc the aim is to alleviate pain and restore normal function. The field of regenerative medicine comprises innovative treatments, such as: Stem cell therapy and Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy.
