Sacral Epidural Injection

Lower back pain and sciatica are very common conditions. In fact, most individuals will experience low back pain at least once in their life. Sciatica is the pain radiating from the lumbar region into the leg, in the area supplied by the affected spinal nerve root. Coccycodynia is the pain in the lowermost segment of the spine (coccyx) and the neighbouring area. S1 sciatica, coccycodynia and failed back surgery syndrome are conditions that can be treated through injection of a local anaesthetic and a small amount of steroid into the lumbar epidural space via the sacral hiatus.
